About This Place

Nestled in Falls Church, VA, Peking Gourmet Inn stands as a distinguished icon among Chinese restaurants in the DMV area, especially revered for its masterful take on traditional Peking Duck. This legendary eatery offers a rich, authentic Cantonese dining experience that has delighted guests ranging from longtime locals to visiting dignitaries, including President George H.W. Bush.

Step inside and you’ll be greeted by an elegant ambiance that beautifully balances classic Chinese elements with a comfortable, inviting atmosphere. The walls tell stories of culinary fame through their adornment of photos featuring generations of patrons and VIP guests, setting the stage for a meal steeped in tradition and prestige.

The menu at Peking Gourmet Inn is a delightful showcase of authentic Chinese flavors, where every dish evokes a vivid mosaic of tastes and textures. Of course, the crown jewel remains their celebrated Peking Duck—a dish that arrives at your table with perfectly crisp skin and tender, flavorful meat, served with delicate pancakes and fragrant hoisin sauce. It’s a sensory feast that truly lives up to its storied reputation.

Beyond the duck, the menu offers an expansive variety of tempting choices. From the richly savory Kung Pao Chicken and the satisfyingly aromatic Fresh Garlic Chicken, to the crispy, golden Firecracker Shrimp and the velvety Gourmet Chinese Eggplant, each plate is crafted with precision and passion. Guests often rave about the Fried Dumplings and Spring Rolls, which provide the perfect crispy start to the meal, and the unexpectedly delightful Mango Ice Cream that offers a refreshing, sweet contrast to the ensemble.

The dining experience is enhanced by attentive service that strikes a gracious balance—warm yet efficient—making guests feel both welcomed and well cared for regardless of whether it's a casual family dinner or a special occasion. While the restaurant can be busy, especially during peak times, the spacious seating and the recommendation to reserve ahead ensure that your visit remains relaxing and enjoyable.

However, it’s worth noting some guests have mentioned that prices reflect the historic prestige and quality ingredients, which can feel steep for smaller groups. Still, many find that sharing the large portions with friends or family justifies the expense as you savor the breadth of flavors offered.

Ultimately, Peking Gourmet Inn invites you on a flavorful journey through timeless Chinese culinary artistry. Whether savoring the iconic Peking Duck or exploring other standout dishes on the menu, you’ll leave with not just a full plate but a memorable taste of one of the DMV’s most beloved dining treasures.

Beijing Gourmet Inn – A DMV Legend for Peking Duck Renowned for serving the best Peking duck in the DMV area, Beijing Gourmet Inn has been a favorite since the days of President George H.W. Bush. Its walls are adorned with hundreds of photos showcasing visits from VIPs over the years, a testament to its enduring reputation. The restaurant’s elegant, traditional Chinese decor—featuring intricate paintings, ornate screens, and calligraphy symbols of longevity and good fortune—creates an inviting ambiance. Private banquet rooms and large round tables make it ideal for group gatherings. Service is impeccable—attentive and polished. We came specifically for the Peking duck, and it did not disappoint. The house-made wraps had the perfect texture, while the plum sauce offered a subtle sweetness, balanced by fresh spring onions. Layering the sauce, onions, tender duck meat, and crispy skin created a heavenly bite—absolutely delicious! While the Peking duck is a must-order, other dishes we tried—the Mandarin Lo Mein, Jeo Yen Shrimp, and Family-Style Bean Curd—were decent but unremarkable. For the best experience, stick with their star dish. A top-tier destination for Peking duck, with an elegant setting and outstanding service.

I love coming here. It is by far the best Chinese food in the DMV. Reservations are recommended. It’s a beautiful decorated space with lots of seating availability. The servers are extremely attentive and pleasant to interact with. When I go, my group usually gets the duck which is what they are famous for. I don’t eat duck but it’s always served with care. I absolutely LOVE the Szechuan beef proper meal. It’s sweet but also savory. And the eggrolls are amazing. Everyone should come here at least once.

The Peking Gourmet Inn ???????? clearly has had better days…also prices are severely inflated and quality/price ratio is not there (xtip $222 for 2 adults + 2 kids). Probably in a large group setting cost will get diluted, but still found prices too high for the experience and the food itself. Happy to have a second go to try other dishes, but I was not impressed. Food wise the Snow peas with roasted garlic were very good, the ribs appetizer was ok, the rice and lo mein were also ok, and the famous Peking duck was a 7 out of 10 (the pancakes were dry & flour forward).

This place is one of the most famous Peking duck restaurants in the area, so it was incredibly crowded when we visited. The duck itself was delicious, and the other dishes were all above average as well. The service wasn’t unfriendly, but it wasn’t particularly warm either—pretty much what you’d expect from a typical busy Chinese restaurant.

The Peking Duck is the best, but my friend and I decided to spend less and get three dishes to share instead. The Fresh Garlic Chicken ($23) and Gourmet Chinese Eggplant ($19) were delicious. We found the pork a little tough in the Pork with Spring Onions ($22). Good food, large portions, excellent service.

Peking Gourmet Inn is an absolute legend in Falls Church. This place has been a community staple for decades, and it shows everyone from local families to politicians and celebrities has eaten here, and for good reason. Their signature Peking Duck is the star of the show. It comes out perfectly roasted, and the staff slices it right in front of you with the kind of precision that turns dinner into a performance. The crispy skin, the warm homemade pancakes, the fresh scallions grown on their own farm every detail is next-level. The restaurant itself is spacious and classic, but don’t let that fool you it gets busy fast. Reservations are definitely recommended. Parking can be tough (the lot is small and always packed), but once you’re inside and tasting that duck, you’ll realize it was absolutely worth the effort.
